Ohio Bills Database (2015 – present)

This database includes all legislation relating to reproductive health introduced since the 131st Ohio General Assembly (GA) in 2015 – 2016. There are 99 pieces of legislation currently contained in the database. This searchable database tracks legislation introduced on topics like abortion, contraception, maternal mortality, pregnancy, sex education, birthing, and prenatal care.

Each entry reflects one piece of legislation and includes the following information:

  • Bill number
  • Bill short title
  • Date of introduction
  • Effective date (if applicable)
  • Current version
  • Status
  • Primary sponsor(s)
  • Subjects (according to the GA)
  • Committees
  • General Assembly session
  • Codes*
  • A link to the full legislation text
  • A link to the GA analysis of the legislation text
  • A link to the legislation summary page on the GA website

*Each entry is coded by OPEN by topic. For example, laws relating to abortion have codes like “medication abortion,” “licensing and regulation,” “criminalization,” “ultrasound,” or “compelled speech.” This coding allows users to search for specific sub-sets of information in a more nuanced fashion.

Note: We strive to keep all databases as current and accurate as possible. If you notice an error, please let us know by emailing open@osu.edu and we’ll correct the entry as soon as possible.
