Czarnecki received her PhD and MA in sociology, and a certificate in science and technology studies, from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining OPEN, she held a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Social Studies of Medicine Department at McGill University. Her research focuses on issues related to gender, medical technologies, and reproduction. She has studied Christian women’s experiences with assisted reproductive technologies, how health care providers make participation decisions about abortion care, and women’s experiences with genetic carrier testing in reproductive health care settings. With OPEN, she is primarily involved as a research assistant to the Abortion Clinic Closures and Care Churn project; and she serves as a contributing researcher on other projects.
