Toney is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati. She earned her BA in sociology from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Following graduation, she spent a year working for the AmeriCorps organization City Year-D.C., where she worked as a tutor and mentor to 5th graders in southeast D.C. Toney’s research interests are in race, education, and social movements. Toney is a research assistant to OPEN’s Administrators in Ohio’s Contraceptive Safety Net project.
