Hayford is Director at The Ohio State University’s Institute for Population Research. She studies family formation and reproductive health, primarily in the United States and sub-Saharan Africa. Hayford is interested in how people make plans about family and reproduction and who is able to carry out these plans. Her previous research has studied trends, patterns, and differentials in unintended childbearing in the United States. Hayford co-leads OPEN’s Communications Core and is a contributing member of Patterns in Abortion Use in Ohio and Surrounding States project and faculty advisor to the project on Administrators in Ohio’s Contraceptive Safety Net.
