Patterns in Abortion Use in Ohio and Surrounding States
This project examines changes in Ohioans use of abortion care over time and across geographic regions within Ohio. We also study differences in use of abortion care among underserved groups in Ohio. We focus on changes in abortion utilization in Ohio from 2010 to 2018, a time when lawmakers approved more than 15 new abortion regulations and when the number of procedural abortion clinics in the state dropped from fifteen to eight.
We are drawing on data from the Ohio Department of Health and from clinic records to study changes in abortion rates and ratios, differences between urban and rural areas, the timing of abortion, and methods of abortion care.
